Synaptic Psych East Memphis Team participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)

The Synaptic Psych East Memphis Team participated in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Mid-South Out of the Darkness Walk this past Saturday, October 24th, 2026 in Overton Park. Through the generous support of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Advocacy and Collaboration Grant and partnered organizations, Synaptic Psych, TN Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists (TSCAP), and the TN Psychiatric Association (TPA) were able to engage over 200 event participants regarding Q&As addressing common misconceptions about youth suicide, safe storage, and crisis duration. Over 150 cable locks were distributed in the community along side a generous donation from the TN Department of Safety Handgun.
