Dr. Cress was born and raised in Texas. She completed her graduate medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and then went on to do a psychiatric residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Cress remained on faculty at Baylor for an additional two years as part of the Mood Disorder Center under the teaching of Dr. Lauren Marangell and participated in many clinical studies and the care of patients with treatment-refractory mental illnesses. Dr. Cress eventually left Baylor and established a private practice, Sweetwater Psychiatry. In 2010, she added Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) to her practice, and in 2010 added Spravato to provide other treatment options for patients. Dr. Cress’ goal is to empower individuals to take charge of their lives instead of their illness taking charge.
