Spotlight on Our Chief Medical Officer

As the Clinical TMS Society (CTMSS) representative to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Assembly, Dr. Cochran attended the APA meeting in San Francisco this year in May 2023.

As part of her participation, she has been actively advocating for CTMSS and patients in the Assembly, drafting successful Action papers to have the APA produce a position paper on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and advocating to form an APA component representing neuromodulation treatments (TMS, ECT, VNS, etc.).  The position paper has taken some time but is nearly finished, and the newly founded Caucus on Neuromodulation has met twice now and has grown to over 200+ APA members; this year she chairs of this caucus.

Last year, Dr Cochran put forward successful action papers, one resulting in the APA Assembly returning to two live meetings yearly;  one focused on improving APA election voter turnout, one encouraging a substantial public relations effort to improve the image of psychiatrists, and finally, one protecting the integrity of psychiatric resident training.

Dr Cochran continues presently to participate in the work of CTMSS and APA, but will be officially moving from these roles in May 2024 to become the Tennessee Psychiatric Association (TPA) President and the District Branch representative for TN to the APA.

At the NeuroScience & TMS Treatment Center, Dr. Cochran uses all the knowledge she has gained in local and national governance to help all the clinicians and staff team improve themselves and their care of patients.  She works to help the quality of mental healthcare improve.

At the NeuroScience & TMS Treatment Center, we have several treatment options we can use, beyond common medications and therapy, to aggressively treat you for brain diseases. Learn more about our treatments and services on our Comprehensive Behavioral Health Page
